I joined Google in 2005, a little after Claire. But it really helped them in a tricky time when we were scaling quickly and they had to collaborate on a bunch of things that we were building for the first time. My goal is to lay out a basic framework for anybody unsure whom to listen to as a way of helping you think about a way to orient your own views. These standards allowed global collaboration and expanded the boundaries of trade. I also hope to lay out a way to develop a healthy degree of skepticism for the more outlandish arguments.
