Cheaper rents could make it a great place for the creative community and there''s no reason why it shouldn''t become as popular a destination for out of town events the same way that Austin has. Unfortunately, there''s no hotel, conference, or venue space to allow a South by Coney Island.

Some, such as Cahoots in Ann Arbor, offer seemingly endless options for individuals all the way up to fairly large teams, including conference rooms and call spaces to multiple desk options. The tech community has been having a long-overdue conversation about mental health and work/life balance and it’s something I’ve been talking up as far back as 2006 , 2009 , and 2014 on my blog and in public. Don’t get me wrong--the mental and emotional well-being of startup employees is a serious issue.

When I was camping out in the Ace Hotel back in 2009 before First Round had an office, I took meetings with 3-5 people a day, 4-5 days a week, for 7 months. If just a small percentage of those people picked their head up and found that space to be interesting, you'd wind up with a lot of conversions. 4) Food is incredibly important.

Community organizations like Shine & Rise provide support and mentorship to women who work at tech companies, and coworking spaces like Cahoots offer dedicated tech entrepreneurial spaces for the community. This was big news for the Ann Arbor tech community, and a huge move for Llamasoft.
