In 2010, Antonio Garcia Martinez, the founder of AdGrok, wrote, “New York will always be a tech backwater, I don’t care what Chris Dixon or Ron Conway or Paul Graham say.” They can have some longer term impacts through educational institutions. What makes people like that want to live in any particular community?

We decided that V2 would have a more formal education program taught by real practitioners rather than just hosting discussions on topics as we did in V1. We will be selecting 10 startup companies to participate.

Since 2010, populations in rural cities have been falling and according to the United States Census rural America now represents less than 20% of the U.S. 74% of employers in rural areas stated they had difficulty finding candidates with the right education, skills or training. Population, though 97% of U.S. land is considered rural.
