Marianne Hudson, executive director of the AngelCapital Association (the trade association for angel investors in the US) wrote an article on this topic. One of the biggest debates in the angel industry is how much due diligence investors should do before they invest.
You can take advantage of investor databases such as AngelList, AngelCapital Association or Angels Den to get started. The list should include around 30 to 50 names, which you can put into a spreadsheet with other relevant information for easy reference. Know where to look. Self-promotion also helps.
