Just because you put up a structure doesn't mean it's going to sprout a whole innovation ecosystem. On top of that, they tend to be the locus of innovation networks. If you want to connect to an innovation community, there isn't a better place to start than someone who invests in it.

Anyone can build a coworking space, but it''s a lot harder to attract and curate a set of folks that makes me want to move into that space. I''ve always believed that investors make great community glue because they have a huge incentive for their local communities to thrive as places of innovation.

In an ecosystem, there should be multiple entrepreneurial support organizations, coworking spaces, incubators/accelerators, investors, etc.communicating about the resources they have to support entrepreneurs.
