I recently spoke at Caltech at the Caltech / MIT Enterprise Forum on “the future of social networking,&# the 30-minute video is here and the PowerPoint presentation is here on DocStoc ). What are the big trends that will drive the next phase of social networks? And so it goes with social networking. The Past (1985-2002).

Why would I spend so much time networking with other CEOs, discussing mutual problems and solutions? It was an Internet CEO roundtable in early 2000 (almost a year before the crash of the stock market) where it became obvious before the public was aware, that the bubble was just beginning to burst for such tech businesses.
Be careful about this advice. I worked with an entrepreneur who was to appear at a startup networking event where he was to talk about his company’s plans. I know because I did this in early 2000. Most people totally advise against stealth. Also be careful about VCs.
I say at 500,000 a technician, I need 2000 technicians. Who’s the one who’s holding that torch of the purpose, values, mission beside the technicians, who else is part of that team, and what’s your advice to us, as we’re looking to grow companies with other leaders? But who’s your leadership?
