I'll bet you don't know where the Center of NY's Tech Community and Center of Creativity is. It's in the Financial District--right at 55 Broad Street. It says so right on their website. In fact, it is "well-known internationally as the original home of New York's technology community.".

This means that creating a work environment geared toward purpose, creativity and happiness is key to employee retention. Cheaper rents could make it a great place for the creative community and there''s no reason why it shouldn''t become as popular a destination for out of town events the same way that Austin has. Anyone can build a coworking space, but it''s a lot harder to attract and curate a set of folks that makes me want to move into that space.
