Having to deal with the culture entrenched with the decision-makers and having to dissolve the old way of thinking in order to utilize best practices of the past and integrate these practices into forward-thinking methodologies. But there is no driving force critiquing the startup industry, informing learnings, and making it better.
There is an incredible, thriving entrepreneurship culture that breeds fascinating companies weekly. The biggest change has been on company culture, which is hard to maintain in a distributed work-from-home environment. Companies need to be innovative and creative in maintaining/building culture, which was so much easier pre-COVID.
I benefited from the fact that I was coming from the inside, and so I had a lot of information that I could then condense down, hopefully, to something that was palatable to people who were both in and outside of the industry. Me and another coworker had started our channels at the same time, and hers blew up kind of immediately.
The startup I worked for, Efficient Frontier, was founded by a coworker of Jeff Bezos’ at hedge fund D.E.
