During my tenure with the local University I worked with economicdevelopers all across Iowa, from Sioux City to Davenport and a great many small but mighty communities in-between: Grinnell, Parkersburg, Webster City and Lamoni to name a few. I grew up in a small town in north Iowa—Cedar Falls, to be exact.

The Kauffman Foundation’s ESHIP Goal 3 recognizes this as an ongoing challenge, stating, “Strong collaboration will require alignment on our desired outcomes for ecosystem building and a common terminology for this work. ” There are so many ideas as to what an ecosystem builder is. This shouldn’t come as a surprise.
More than ever, we need innovation. Angels are nimble, identifying and supporting entrepreneurs with desperately needed new technologies and innovations. For the last two years, we’ve held a virtual global summit with a full program of expert speakers, insightful peer-to-peer discussions, and networking opportunities.
Other organizations are better suited to convene events where entrepreneurs gather to provide informal peer support to one another and connect to role models in their industry. Collaboration between organizations providing various services creates a cohesive network of resources better suited to support innovation.
Impact Hub: Our policy approach At Impact Hub, we are committed to accelerating global impact through collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. Our mission is to build locally rooted and globally connected entrepreneurial communities for impact at scale. To date, our community has reached over 25,000 such impact-driven enterprises.
A central strategy for this work, reinforced by a recent regional equitable economic recovery strategic planning process is the launch of a “guiding organization”. . The E3 Alliance of Greater Pittsburgh is now looking for a Director to lead this effort. . The position is funded via philanthropic support from local foundations. .
